How We Teach Jolly Phonics
Building confident readers and writers through a clear and logical approach
Jolly Phonics is a Systematic Synthetic Phonics programme (SSP). This means that the children are taught how to use the English alphabetic code for reading and writing in a simple and child friendly way. It is evidence-based and proven to give children the strongest start for learning to read and write independently.

Letter sounds taught in a clear progression with constant revision.
Multisensory
Children see, hear, say and use actions and music to learn each new letter sound.
Pace of lessons
The method of teaching and content should remain the same but the pace of teaching will vary according to the age of the children, and the amount of time available for teaching.
