Mrs. Opheera McDoom, British, has set up three schools in Egypt and Sudan. Jolly Phonics and Grammar has been used as the primary literacy programme in all her schools.
Ms McDoom has been training in both education and media for more than two decades. She designed and taught training courses for Sudanese and U.N. journalists and press officers, advised and trained government officials in Libya, Sudan and South Sudan and has undertaken training consultancies for the United Nations and World Bank.
As a former journalist and head of the Reuters office in Khartoum, Mrs. McDoom won awards including the United Nations Elizabeth Neuffer Memorial Award, Reuters journalist of the year, and has been the Reuters nominee for the prestigious OPC award, the IWMF’s Courage in Journalism award and the Prix Bayeux.
Mrs. McDoom is proud to be a Jolly Phonics Trainer. She runs teacher training as well as Jolly Phonics courses and all her amazing teaching staff have had full Jolly Phonics training by her.
