Stephanie du Plessis has her B.ed degree and has been working in the Foundation Phase for 10 years. She lives in Cape Town and has taught and trained teachers all around South Africa in Jolly Phonics since 2019. Stephanie has joined the international team in training the Namibian country in 2024 with Jolly Grammar. She has delivered a few online courses and PLC’s for the department of Education. She has experienced the joy of seeing the benefits of the programme with her first English classroom that was filled with ten different languages, all eager to learn how to speak, read and write English. This was a great challenge for her to help this very diverse and multi-cultural grade 1 class. It was only possible with the incredible Jolly Phonics programme.
Stephanie has developed and helped her school in Stellenbosch with an online Library during the Covid 19 pandemic, for children to be able to continue reading at home. Her creativity knows no bounds and her passion shines through in every aspect of teaching. Stephanie was nominated for KFM 94.5’s teacher of the year 2020 awards and can be seen on multiple platforms.
You can find her on YouTube delivering WCED Reading indaba 2022 or on the Western Cape Education Department’s website named e-portal. Where Jolly Phonics development videos can be streamed. She loves teaching, training and being a mentor along with all the learning, creativity and challenges experienced in today’s classroom.
Even though Stephanie is based in Cape Town she would love to share her passion and love for teaching Jolly Phonics and Grammar to the whole world. She strongly feels that Jolly Phonics is the best Synthetic approach to use in teaching the English Language. Her goal is to inspire a lifelong love for learning and reading.
